In 2005, UCI researchers built Hiperwall, the world's highest resolution display system. The original prototype is capable of individually controlling each of its 200 million pixels in real time. The technology has now been enhanced to provide a variety of unique features that make it very suitable for applications like medical imaging, control rooms, trading floors, digital signage, trade shows and surveillance and security monitoring. |

Metaverse Ink is dedicated to the development of innovative products and services that improve accessibility to the written words and images of the Metaverse. The company's first product is the first and only independent search engine for Second LifeTM, searching over 2 million SL products and 250,000 virtual places. Ranking of search results is done using heuristics specifically devised for Virtual World environments. |

Reaction Explorer is an interactive learning system for reactions, synthesis and mechanisms in organic chemistry. The system has been used as part of the organic chemistry curriculum at UCI since the 2006/2007 school year. During that time, students who used the system as recommended completed their courses with a 10 point higher grade average then students that did not use the system. |

We design a sensitive graph theoretic method for comparing local structures of node neighborhoods that demonstrates that in PPI networks, biological function of a node and its local network structure are closely related. The method groups topologically similar proteins under this measure in a PPI network and shows that these protein groups belong to the same protein complexes, perform the same biological functions, are localized in the same subcellular compartments, and have the same tissue expressions. |
